About Me

Booking my dentist by smartphone app

I love that my family dentist is tech-savvy. It's so easy to book a dentist on his smartphone app if I have a tooth problem or if anyone in my family needs emergency problems (I can choose either my normal dentist or another dentist in his practise depending on availability). He also has some great cameras so that we can see exactly what is going on during treatment. I prefer not to see this, but my kids love to be able to see the dentist using his specialised tools to clean and repair their teeth. This blog has some tips on finding a tech-savvy dentist to help give your family the best possible dental care.

Tips for Mothers to Reduce Gum Pain For Their Children After Brace Tightening

To most mothers, taking children to get braces has become a norm. If your child is going to have braces for the first time, then it is important to realize that, from time to time, you will be required to take them to visit an orthodontist. These visits are meant to adjust the archwire on their braces. Part of the adjustments will be in the form of tightening the screws on the braces, and it is usually followed up with a little bit of discomfort or pain on the gums.

Oral Health: Critical Care Guidelines for New Dental Crowns

The dental crown is a beneficial product in the restoration of broken, decayed and missing teeth. Basically, this is an artificially fabricated cap that is shaped like the natural crown. This will protect a broken tooth or a largely decayed one and support the remaining dental material. The crown can also be installed over dental implants or bridges for missing teeth. In general, dental crowns are long-lasting because they are made from durable materials such as stainless steel, gold alloy, porcelain, metals and zirconium.

5 Reasons to Have Regular Dental Checkups

If you wait until you start experiencing dental pain to visit your dentist, you're putting yourself at high risk of several inconvenient consequences. First, the pain can last for days, and as you know, toothaches are one of the most uncomfortable pains. Second, toothaches would mean that a cavity has grown or worsened to the extent that it needs a root canal. But with regular checkups at the dentist, this situation can be avoided, as your dentist will perform cavity checks and cleanings before they develop into something worse.

Farewell Spare Room: How a Dentist Can Put a Stop to Your Snoring

Most people snore at some point in their lives. Snoring, which is created by the vibration of the tissues in the throat, usually during inhalation, can occur due to heavy colds, flu, sinus infections and allergies. In these cases, the effect on a person and their partner or family can be negligible. However, there is a worse form of snoring, known as 'sleep apnea'. It is this form of snoring that can put a strain on relationships, cause the affected person and their partner to lose sleep, and even negatively affect learning and working capability.

Speaking of Dentures: How to Speak More Clearly While Wearing Dentures

Whether you have partial or full dentures, for the first few days or weeks, you may find that speaking clearly is something of a challenge. Not only do your dentures keep moving, but your gums are sore and you sound odd while speaking, especially when trying to pronounce certain letters like 's'. Understandably, this can cause you to become frustrated. You can't eat solid foods, food has lost its flavour and it seems like you have to learn how to speak all over again!

Could You Consider Aligners Instead of Braces?

If you finally want to do something about your teeth alignment, you may think that the only option available to you is the traditional and somewhat visible braces. However, adults in particular can take advantage of clear aligners instead. What are these and how could they work in your case? The Clear Option Developed as an alternative to the traditional braces, clear aligners are essentially removable plastic trays that fit on top of your teeth on an ongoing basis.

How a Dentist Can Help You Improve Your Appearance

Do you find that you are comparing the colour of your teeth to other people's on a regular basis now? Are you afraid to wear white T-shirts or blouses, because you think that it "shows up" the shade of your teeth? These are common issues today, especially for younger people, who often worry more about their appearance that they should. You've looked at home-based whitening systems, but would like to get a professional to do it more efficiently.
