I love that my family dentist is tech-savvy. It's so easy to book a dentist on his smartphone app if I have a tooth problem or if anyone in my family needs emergency problems (I can choose either my normal dentist or another dentist in his practise depending on availability). He also has some great cameras so that we can see exactly what is going on during treatment. I prefer not to see this, but my kids love to be able to see the dentist using his specialised tools to clean and repair their teeth. This blog has some tips on finding a tech-savvy dentist to help give your family the best possible dental care.
Many people have grown up dreading visiting the dentist's office. People may fear the office because of the reclining nature of the dentist's chair or the idea of the dentist drilling into their teeth. Regardless of the reason why people fear the dentist's office, no one can deny that dentists provide a critical service to society. When you are a dentist in private practice, you need to make sure you attract customers for your business to not only last but to also grow. While you cannot help people let go of their fear of your office, you can actually make their experience less anxious by changing the general environment of your office. In so doing, you are likely to encourage them to visit another time and even to give a referral. Below are some of the ways in which you may improve your patient's experience.
Make your layout more accommodative
A dentist office, like any other medical facility, will receive visitors from all walks of life. You will have children, breastfeeding mothers, people who have just left their office for a quick dental checkup before returning to work, or an entire family that has brought a patient. You need to make sure that the setting of your office factors in all these different patients. You want them to be as comfortable as possible as they wait for you. You can have a kids' section where the kids will play, a section where the mothers can comfortably feed and change their babies, a section with work tables so that others may work on their computers as they wait to be attended to, and a family section. Ensure that the furniture is also comfortable.
Avoid a monotonous colour scheme
Most dentist's offices will have their offices painted white; perhaps because it is the colour of the teeth. The white can actually make a patient more anxious than they already are. Try incorporating colourful schemes in your office to elevate the mood of the patients and make them less anxious and more lively.
Minimize wait times
Waiting for a long time can create unnecessary uneasiness. Picture a patient who came to have his or her teeth cleaned waiting in the same room with someone in extreme pain for a long time. You want to reduce how restless the patient is before you see them.
Offer complementary services
You could offer snacks, beverages or even massage chairs. If your budget allows, go out of your way to pamper your patients.
