Booking my dentist by smartphone app

I love that my family dentist is tech-savvy. It's so easy to book a dentist on his smartphone app if I have a tooth problem or if anyone in my family needs emergency problems (I can choose either my normal dentist or another dentist in his practise depending on availability). He also has some great cameras so that we can see exactly what is going on during treatment. I prefer not to see this, but my kids love to be able to see the dentist using his specialised tools to clean and repair their teeth. This blog has some tips on finding a tech-savvy dentist to help give your family the best possible dental care.

Why You Should Get Dental Crowns in One Dental Visit

by Jeff Rivera

When a tooth or crown is broken, it causes immense pain, frustration, and sensitivity that prompts one to seek immediate dental services. What adds to the pain and frustration is that one has to wait several weeks and make multiple visits to the dentist to have a restoration made. Same-day dental crowns are a revolution: they help restore teeth function and aesthetics in a single visit.

The traditional method of restoring teeth using crowns includes several steps which make it time consuming. It involves moulding impressions, having a temporary crown fitted on the affected tooth, making the custom-designed crown in a lab, and fitting the permanent crown. Your dentist should recommend same-day dental crowns because they immensely simplify the process of getting dental restorations. Here are five reasons why you should opt for same-day crowns.

They are convenient

One of the biggest advantages of the same-day dental crown over the conventional permanent crown is that it does not take days or weeks. The procedure takes just a few hours, and less than half a day would suffice. This means that you can walk into the dentist's office at lunch hour then walk back to work with a bright smile after getting a same-day crown fitted.

Simple solutions for simple problems

A dental crown restores and strengthens a tooth by covering it fully from the biting surfaces to the gum line. Crowns are used to solve many dental problems ranging from simple issues such as sensitivity and fracturing to severe tooth damage. Same-day crowns are a simple solution for the simple problems as well as complex dental issues.

The original tooth is preserved

The traditional method of restoring teeth using dental crowns involved removal of majority of the damaged tooth, while with a same-day crown, the original tooth, or most of it, can be preserved. This means that when a dentist is fitting a same-day crown, not much drilling will be involved.

They are not expensive

With convenience usually comes a higher cost, but same-day crowns cost pretty the same as the conventional crowns. Some dentists may charge more for same-day crown because they offer a good, convenient turnaround time, but this doesn't make them any less preferable.

They're durable

There is not no significant difference in the durability and strength of same-day crowns and traditional crowns. If appropriate care and oral hygiene is maintained, same-day crowns can last without necessitating replacement.

Same-day crowns are becoming increasingly popular in Australia, and you can benefit from the advantages they confer compared to the conventional crowns.
