Booking my dentist by smartphone app

I love that my family dentist is tech-savvy. It's so easy to book a dentist on his smartphone app if I have a tooth problem or if anyone in my family needs emergency problems (I can choose either my normal dentist or another dentist in his practise depending on availability). He also has some great cameras so that we can see exactly what is going on during treatment. I prefer not to see this, but my kids love to be able to see the dentist using his specialised tools to clean and repair their teeth. This blog has some tips on finding a tech-savvy dentist to help give your family the best possible dental care.

Why You Need Not Worry about Implant Surgery at All

by Jeff Rivera

If you've had teeth removed over time you may know that you would function better if you had a full set once again. You may also have a "visible" gap here or there and want to improve your aesthetic appearance. It's likely that you have heard all about dental implants, but have some trepidation. Aren't they very complicated? Isn't the procedure uncomfortable? In fact, you needn't worry about this type of procedure at all. Why is this?

The Approach

The materials used in the creation of dental implants today are tried and tested. They've been developed not only to interact well with your existing teeth and bone, but to look just as natural as your original teeth.

Routine Work

You should also know that implant surgery is highly routine and is performed by your dental specialist on a regular basis. The tools available in the surgery are able to precisely plan the exact position of the post, which will accept the new tooth. Sometimes, imaging or x-rays are additional tools that the dentist can use to determine the precise location for the procedure.

Precise Materials

You should know that the post is made of titanium, specifically because it has been proven to interact well with the surrounding bone. The cells in the body will accept the addition and will grow around it over time, to make it even stronger and longer lasting.

Local Anaesthetic

Many people think that this is complex surgery, but it is not. The procedure is usually conducted using local anaesthetic only, given in the area immediately surrounding the site of the implant. In this way, you will feel very little while the dentist is conducting their work.

What to Expect Afterwards

The dentist will cause the minimum amount of disruption while surgically implanting the post in its place. Any cuts to the surrounding tissue will be stitched together with tiny sutures, which will usually disappear by themselves. You will just need some pain relievers for a short time afterwards, until the mild discomfort disappears.

Adding the Permanent Crown

After a couple of weeks to allow the area to heal properly, the dentist will then be able to remove the temporary crown and place the permanent tooth in its place. Nobody will be able to tell that you've had this type of surgery and you will have a much more functional mouth, with a beaming smile once again.

Making the Appointment

So now that you know that this procedure is as straightforward as they come, schedule a visit to plan yours.
